Songs To Bring Out The #GirlBoss In You

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

We're halfway through the month of March and we're just getting started with #WomensHistoryMonth!

Last March 8, 2020, the entire globe celebrated International Women's Day. And the theme for this month focuses on the fight for the right of suffrage for women which now celebrates its 100th year after the ratification of the 19th Amendment of the United States. (1)

The National Women’s History Alliance selects and publishes the yearly theme. The 2020 Women’s History Month theme is “Valiant Women of the Vote.” The theme honors "the brave women who fought to win suffrage rights for women, and for the women who continue to fight for the voting rights of others."

In the Philippines, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) takes on this month with the theme: "Babae, Pambihira Ka!" ("Woman, You Are Extraordinary!")

They are dedicating this theme to the women who did not go with the flow and instead made giant waves in the society as they broke the stereotypes of the country. PCW thanks the women AND men who work to make misogyny and all that affects it to fully come to an end. This is their call-to-action to "enable every Juana to show how extraordinary she can be by tearing down barriers to gender equality, ending discrimination, and fighting sexism and toxic masculinity".
